Unleash the Beast with UP Pilsner!

Ugly Pike Pilsner is proud to be the Official Beer of Unleash the Beast! 42 anglers will battle for bragging rights this year as they target the freshwater apex hunter! UTB is yet another high profile tournament in Canada where some of the best anglers in the sport meet to compete. Its not all work though, since this tournament is situated on the famed French River, in one of the best and most prestigious lodges around - the Chaudiere.

In typical muskie community fashion, UTB is giving back and in fact this year it boasts it’s biggest prize table yet. Anglers will get to bid on some amazing items, all in the name of donating back to muskie research and development. It’s no wonder why spots for UTB seem to vanish in an instant once the event is announced each year.

Todd Dowell from Tickle Baits, and the organizer of UTB is extremely optimistic about the event this year. He told Ugly Pike that, “ …not only do we have the luxurious lodging of the Chaudiere Lodge, but we have been sponsored by the best pilsner on the market!” It’s hard to argue with Todd on that :) Best of luck and tightest of lines to all who are participating at UTB this season!

The Official Beer of the Prestigious Musky Cup!

Ugly Pike Pilsner is proud to be the Official Beer of the famed Musky Cup! Since 2012 this competition has attracted top muskie anglers from across North America. Located on Lake of the Woods, dozens of anglers will ascend upon Nestor Falls and begin targeting any and all of the thousands of spots that LOTW has become known for.

We spoke with Byron Walker, organizer of his event, and it soon became apparent as to just why this competition has been so competitive over the years, “ The musky cup has been held for 10 years and 20 different names have been burned into the cup. This shows the diversity of angling abilities from casting top water, to jigging heavy plastic in 30 feet. The end of September on LOTW offers a transition where some fish are still on summer spots and others are feeding the deep current channels. Only the best anglers on top of their game get to drink from the cup.”

Although it is impossible to tell who will be this season's Cup winner, we can provide insight on what the champion will be drinking out of the illustrious Musky Cup! Best of luck to all anglers participating!

Ugly Pike has entered into a partnership Muskies Canada Inc! The goal is to work together and advance the wellness of the outdoor fishing ecosystems that we value. For both entities, this partnership made all the sense in the world. Muskies Canada has made Ugly Pike Pilsner “The Official Beer of Muskies Canada”. Who loves a good crisp beer after a long day on the water more than anglers do?! In return, Ugly Pike will donate a portion of the sales of Ugly Pike Pilsner to MCI wildlife research and conservation projects.

As anglers, it’s important that we (all) walk the walk. It is expected that not only will this partnership bring attention to critical outdoor initiatives, but the funding boost to researching and bettering these lands will actually make a difference.

It has always been the mandate of Ugly Pike as anglers to be proper stewards of the environment. It is our pleasure to use our show as a way to get critical messaging out to the public and to use our beer to funnel funds toward making a difference.
